Research On Moral Education’s Function Of College Volunteer Service

Although Volunteer service started later in our country, it has been developing rapidly. As the development of volunteer services in college and universities in recent years, college volunteer team has become the main force of the volunteer service. They adherence to the volunteer spirit of "contribution, friendship, mutual help and progress", using their spare time, contributing their own knowledge, techniques, ability to the others, and providing the free service for the society. During the course of volunteer service, college students promote the development of the social public welfare undertakings, and cultivating their sense of social responsibility, strengthening the spirit of patriotism. It also realizes their self-worth, and rising the comprehensive quality and ability. We can say that, as a new way of practice education, volunteer service has become an important way to carry out the moral education in college and universities. Volunteer service plays an important role in the function of moral education, and promoting the student’s comprehensive growth.With the further development of college volunteer service, volunteer service also encounters many problems. Volunteer service become formalized, college volunteers lack of necessary knowledge and techniques of volunteer service and sense of responsibility, utilitarian participation motivation, unsound volunteer organization, administrative management, the evaluation and the incentive measures of volunteer service are not perfect, lack of legal support, capital support and social support, and so on. These factors restrict the exertion of moral education’s function of college volunteer service seriously. It needs to be solved in practice, to make the moral education work of college and universities become effective, and enhance the effectiveness of moral education work. To fully exert the moral education’s function of college volunteer service, we have to improve the quality of college students to participate in volunteer service, innovate organization and management system, establish and improve the evaluation and incentive system, consummate security system of volunteer service and cultivate volunteer service brand.
