In this study, we used Burnout Inventory, Social Support Rating Scale and Proactive Personality Scale as research tools, and regarded280teachers from primary, middle and high schools of Q city as subjects. The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status and burnout differences of teachers in each demographic variable, and the relationships among job burnout, social support and proactive personality with the help of SPSS and LISREL software.The main conclusions of this study were:(1) The teachers’ job burnout did not reach a serious level, in these dimensions, the highest was emotional exhaustion, the lowest was depersonalization.(2) There was no significant difference among teachers on gender, title, head teacher or not, educational history and so on; burnout was significantly different on age, seniority, marital status, graduating class or not and institution type.(3) The teachers’social support reached a high level; there was significant difference among teachers on age, seniority, educational history, marital status and institution type.(4) The teachers’proactive personality reached a high level; there was no significant difference among teachers in any demographic variable.(5) High social support group’s scores were lower in Burnout Inventory than low support group respectively; the teachers’social support had significant negative correlation with job burnout; both of subjective support and objective support had distinctly predictive effects on the emotional exhaustion as well as depersonalization; both of subjective support and support availability had distinctly predictive effects on the decreased personal accomplishment.(6) High proactive personality group’s scores were lower in Burnout Inventory than low proactive personality respectively; the teachers’proactive personality had significant negative correlation with job burnout; proactive personality had distinctly predictive effect on job burnout.(7) Social support played a significantly mediatory role between proactive personality and job burnout.
