With the social development and the progress of the times, it stimulates the increasing demands on the quality of citizens. At the same time, civic education has become a hot topic as well as an important part of the education reform in the world. At present, the discussion of civic education in Chinese theoretical circle is growing and many important research results have sprang up. It covers:discussions on the connotation and extension of civil, civic education; consensus on the importance of civic education in our country; the emergence of works about successful experience of foreign civic education. However, the current researches are mainly focused on only theoretical exposition of civic education but seldom investigate the practice of civic education. View to this, taking a primary school in Nanjing as a case which has been exploring civic education for two years, this paper aims to depict its civic education original appearance.This paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter is the introduction. It mainly talks about the research background and the significance, the research status at home and abroad and the research methods. Chapter Ⅱ comments and analyzes the origins of the X primary school’s civic education its exploration process as well as the current state of the practice. The third chapter mainly elaborates the effectiveness of civic education practice in X primary school from the follwing perspectives:parents, teachers, and students. The fourth chapter analyzes the negative influencing factors on civic education in X primary school. They are the lack of policy support, the pressure of the examination-oriented education, the lack of systematic civic education, and the sustainability crisis. The fifth chapter mainly probes into the reasons why the X primary school civic education Practice in X primary school is effective. It contains the following four aspects: the construction of the school culture; the key practitioner——L; focusing on the needs of students; the external support.The study found that under the impetus of the lawyer C, X primary school carried out the civic education. Within two years’explore, X primary school has obtained some achievements on civic education. It is also accepted by parents and teachers in this school. Even so, they had encountered many difficulties in the process of exploration, such as, the pressure of the examination-oriented education, the lack of systematic civic education and so on. Many measures had been taken to deal with such difficulties. As a result, the school has accumulated lots of experience on civic education which can provide references for other schools.
