What’s worse, quite a few rural schools think that Chinese education is equalto the scores of the exames, and they devote to improving the skills and strategies ofanswering. With the aspect of the stress of the NCEE and the shock of era, it is hardto ensure the reading time for extracurricular classics. So the students tend to read forsores of exams. The students at senior high haven’t not only formed the good habit ofreading, also transferred their interest extremely because of the informative output.The reading of extracurricular classics at rural senior high faces more challenges andcrisis than ever.From today on, we have had a long-termed researching issue about how to facethese challenges and crisis and transform them into an opportunity and motivation.As a front Chinese teacher working on rural schools, I am attemping to do researchon the present situation of reading extracurricular classics in Baiquan County No.1Senior High School by interviewing teachers and questionnaire survey. Besides, I amtrying to find our the strategies of facing the crisis and challenges to improve theembarrassing present situation of reading extracurricular classics. The target of mysurvey contains the571students and26chinese teachers in Qiqihar Baiquan CountyNo.1Senior High School. When doing the factor analysis of variance by using SPSS,we find the present situation of reading extracurricular classics:"The senior highstudents in couties show little interest on reading extracurricular classics";"Theobjective environment has a deep effect on reading extracurricular classics";"Themain reading habit of senior high students affects reading extracurricular classicsvery much". In order to seek the cause of the phenomenon and find the solution tothe problem, I did the statistical frequency distribution by using SPSS to analyse thequestionaire, and I have found that it is the stress of the NCE that causes the presentsituation of reading extracurricular classics. Besides, modern reading, The film andtelevision media and the dash of the new media make it worse. The reading ofextracurricular classics at rural senior high face fierce challenges because of the badreading habit of senior high students. In order to seek a way out for the reading ofextracurricular classics at rural senior high and improve its present situation, we mustrevive the reading of extracurricular classics at rural senior high from senior highstudents by making great efforts of teachers, schools and society in all directions.
