The number of urban migrant adolescents is gradually increasing with the expansion of China’s migration population. The urban migrant adolescent in recent years has been characterized by widespread concern in academic circles. The special nature of their environment has led to many social problems. However, most studies of the urban migrant adolescent are from a negative perspective, focusing on crime, mental disorders and disease control, etc. Only a few studies have been based on the perspective of development. Now, the study of urban migrant adolescent is more theory than practice, and services for them are limited, so it is difficult to fully respond to their needs in the field of social work. The survey found that most urban migrant adolescents are confused about their future when they are going to graduate from junior middle school. They vacillate between attending a technical school and going to work, and feel their changes of being admitted to senior middle school are low. In response to this situation, the X non-profit organization in Yunnan province carried out a career education project of social work intervention for upcoming graduating urban migrant adolescent to develop their ability and attitudes of life to make choose autonomously, thus improving their confused status quo.The research was carried out by action research method in the context of projects of non-profit organizations. Through the use of assessment and reflection to obtain some experience and feedback, the author makes recommendations for the career education of urban migrant adolescents after performing a needs assessment and effect evaluation of the action intervention. Following this, it was found that urban migrant adolescents have the problems of egoistic deviation, occupational outlook is not formed and lack of self-confidence, social resources. These make them self-perception and social cognition is not clear, and the lack of rational planning for the future. The non-profit organization used the concepts and methods of social work to implement career education, and has developed a series of professional assessments, lectures, trainings, visits and other activities reflecting and addressing these issues found within in the migrant worker population. The study found that participating in the program increased urban migrant adolescent’s awareness of career opportunities as well as their planning abilities. Their self-awareness and social support networks were also increased. The research suggest that the non-profit organization with a strong social work professional standards, the ideas and values of social work can be able to practice in the context of the project, especially the use of experiential learning mode made the project services have come a long way. It can provide a reference for the latter part of the sustainability of the project on the basis of research experience in the practice. According to the overall study, the research makes recommendations finally. The research suggests the groundwork for urban migrant adolescent’s future development lies in carrying out diversified social work services and career education for them, and strengthening the protection of underage workers.
