The emphasis on students’ personality development is one of the teachingpurposes in geography teaching, which raises the teaching attention to students’ needsand is consistent with "people-oriented" education concept fundamentally. In order tofind the optimization proposals of the senior high school geography teaching throughthe constant exploration on students’ needs, this teaching conception should be carriedout in the classroom teaching.On the basis of the literature review at home and abroad, this paper elaboratedthe connotation of the geography learning needs of the senior high school students bythe combination of various ways, for instance, the references reading, questionnaires,interviews, and classroom observation and so on. Firstly, the real thoughts andintention were investigated through multiple ways, like the network platform,classroom surveys, questionnaires, etc.; in reliance on the analysis of thequestionnaire classified and compared hierarchically, the student needs and wishes onthe senior high school geography curriculum can be reached objectively;then, theindividual and common characteristics analyzed through comparison could beunderstood and besides, the geography learning needs of the senior high schoolstudents could be found and come to the conclusion; and at last, the adjustment ofteaching ideas and the teaching strategies timely for educators were put forward. Themain strategies: increasing the proportion of doing experiments in the classroomsettings, paying more attention to life-oriented teaching content, the emphasis on thestudents’ mental and experiential development, the construction of the knowledgesystem and the multiple evaluation means.
