College students are the pillars of the motherland, the builders and successors of thesociety. They are fairly valuable talents. Minority college students, as a special group, is thebackbone of the development of national regions, and an indispensable part of theconstruction of a harmonious society of China.The minority students in Hulun buir region is an important force in the local social andeconomics construction. They shoulder heavy responsibilities of the overall development ofthe local area as well as well the peace and stability of the frontier regions. Their ideologicaland political quality directly affect the development and stability of the whole region of HulunBuir. Therefor, in order to fulfill the all-round development of the minority college students inHulun Buir and to train qualified builder and successor for the region, it is essential to paygreat attention to their ideological and political educationThis essay, Based on questionnaire investigations and documents research, focused inideological and political education of the minority college students in Hulun Buir area. It fallinto three parts. The first part analyses the importance of college ideological and politicaleducation in minority areas. The minority college students in Hulun Buir, especially those livein the remote areas, are quite different from the Han nationality in culture, tradition, livinghabits and customs as well as in ideology, social mentality and competitive consciousness.The second part discussed two major issues. The one is on the main stream of the status ofcollege ideology and politics in Hulun Buir area, which is, on the whole, healthy; the other ison the contributing factors of the situation. Due to geographical and historical reasons, collegestudents in Hulun Buir area posses an extremely strong national consciousness. But most ofthem, at the same time, are also very weak in cultural foundation, competitiveconsciousness and social skills. Their life philosophy and value appear a utilitarian tendency,which will badly affect their personal development as well as the local development and thestability of the border areas of the state if they are not correctly guided or educated. The lastpart proposes the working strategy of the ideological and political education for ethnicminorities of Hulun Buir University, which is, by promoting the major role function ofclassroom teaching, laying stress on the construction of campus culture, to strengthen theeducation of Marx’s Theory in a people-oriented, understanding, cooperative and inspiringway.
