| Education Magazine which had been launched since1909was an opening window targeted at Chinese modern education reform. And it was considered as an important platform for education research and exchange. It also played an important role within fields in terms of the introduction and the rise of educational thoughts, the establishment of education system, the innovation of educational content and methods as well as the construction of education discourse. As one of the most lasting and influential educational journals, Education Magazine had faithfully recorded and witnessed the tough development course of modern Chinese education. Each transformation of the modern Chinese education discourse had left deep marks in Education Magazine. Whether in historical or present times, official or civil layer, it had been fully affirmed. As valuable historical materials for the research of modern Chinese education history, Education Magazine provided the vast space for the transformation of the research paradigm and the expansion of vision of Chinese education history research in dilemmaBased on great amount historical material, this paper applied literature analysis method and started the elaboration from changes of educational discourse in Education Magazine. The paper mainly discussed on the interactive relation between Education Magazine and changes of educational discourse in modern China through three sections.Launched in1909, Education Magazine ceased in1932, and later resumed publication again. In nearly half a century, three interactions took place between Education Magazine and the changes of educational discourse in modern China. The first one came out in its initial phase. In the "Westernized Chinese Style" historical context, Education Magazine led the educational discourse construction by means of discussing education policy; The second was the establishment of the Republic of China as well as Education Magazine’s personnel changes of the chief editor that had prompted the transformation of the discourse in Education Magazine. During this period, the Education Magazine proactively participated in the construction of educational discourse; The third interaction was relatively little passive. During the New Culture Movement stage, Education Magazine was criticized for its outdated contents. Then it began to introspect and was stimulated to catch up with the pace of new type of educational discourse. The transformation of Education Magazine had affected the education discourse construction of that era; likewise, the change of times would also affect the development of the Education Magazine. |
