This paper reviewed the evolution process of residential space structure of Daqing City in past54years based on documentary analysis and field research. With the rapid development of the Daqing Oilfield, the diversity of residential space form and structure are emerging, showing the residential level spatial structure diversified differentiation. During Daqing Oilfield battle period, distribution of oil resources lead the dispersed residential space structure. Since1979Daqing City established, residential space structure has undergone further dramatic changes in the performance of centralized residential space in Saertu region. Since the1990s, residential structure of Daqing City has been influenced by both government and the Petro China Daqing Oilfield. But the development of residential structure is unbalanced, some residents living marginalized.The transition of residential space structure of Daqing city is not only a process of social and economical transition, but also a process of dynamic adjustment of social actors who live and work for Daqing Oil field and their social relations adjustment. The spatial projection of the process is the social production of urban space. Based on the theory of spatial production, this paper discusses the historical process, dynamic principle and consequence of the social production process of urban residential space, which was dominated by government, market and residents. The conclusions are as follows.The social production process of urban residential space shows its complexity, diversity and fickleness. The government-enterprise cooperation space production pattern is characterized by enterprise production and the government provision will be the main method of urban residential space production of Daqing city in the future.
