Responsibility, an old yet modern topic, has been explored by many scholars of different times in different countries. With the development of human society, the cultivation of the sense of responsibility has again drawn public attention. Due to the boom of various schools in pedagogy, the sense of responsibility in teenagers has become a focus as a moral concept. Besides a great turning point in China, the21st century has also witnessed a decline in social moral level arising from economic system, education system as well as the changes of the time.As a consequence, the lack of the sense of responsibility in teenagers has been increasingly common when the teenagers’ outlook on the world, the life and values are still taking form. Taking the above-mentioned assessment into consideration, a good knowledge of the present situation of the teenagers’ responsibility, the analysis of the causes and strategy for the responsibility sense cultivation will be of great significance to the education concerning responsibility sense cultivation both theoretically and practically.Based on Marxist dialectical materialism and historical materialism, the essay aims to conduct research into the cultivation of teenagers’ sense of responsibility by means of interview, questionnaire and documentary analysis. The essay is composed of5parts. Part one acts as introduction, focusing on the significance, the present situation and the research methods. Part two focuses on the recent theoretical findings and the analysis of the definition, the characteristics and the composition of sense of responsibility. Part three focuses on the analysis of the present situation based on the samples of senior school students by means of survey and questionnaire, there is a growing tendency of individual responsibility’s utilitarianism and social responsibility’s deterioration as well as a demonstration of the conflict between knowledge and action. Part four looks into the profound cause of the lack of responsibility in teenagers from the angle of teenagers both physically and mentally and education system as well as the angle of the market economy. Part five functions as the strategy research for the cultivation of the sense of responsibility in teenagers based on the daily work experience from the angle of education system as well as the angle of subjectivity and objectivity.
