With the development of education reform, there have been many changes in school education in our country such as, the roles of teachers, the roles of students, the development of coursebook, and the teaching and learning situations and so on. As an important component in school education, coursebooks play a vital role in the process of teachers’teaching and students’learning. So, selecting and choosing a proper and suitable coursebook seem to be more important for school authority and language teachers. The coursebook---Project English is compiled by Beijing Ren’ai Education Press in2003. In author’s school this set of coursebook is used from2004until now. In fact two groups of students have used it. One group used it from2004to2007, and the other group from2007to2010. As a junior high school teacher, the author tries to evaluate the set of coursebook and make clear about these questions:Is it the best coursebook for the teachers and students in our school? Is it the most suitable coursebook for our real teaching situation? Should we continue to use this set of coursebook or should we find another set of coursebook to replace it? With these questions in mind, the author decides to carry out this research and find out the positive and negative aspects of the coursebook and also tries to give some suggestions for optimal use of the coursebook. There are five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter is an introduction. In this chapter the author introduces the background information of this research, the significance of this research, the information about coursebook and the organization of the dissertation.
