In the18thNational congress of the communist Party of China, Hu Jintao pointed out thatbuilding strong national defense and powerful armed forces which are commensuratewith China’s international standing and meet the needs of its security and developmentinterests is a strategic task of China’s modernization drive. Reform and Opening-uppolicy declare China has entered a new period of time to build up socialist. Nowadays,by the leading of Chinese communists, Chinese defense industry has started from theactual conditions, practiced in tune with the times, gave top priority to what is themost important, made its best to improve our nations’ modernization level of nationaldefense. Look back upon the main line of our country’s defense-related science andtechnology since reform and opening-up in1978, study the reason, the rule of it, wecan find the distinguishing features from different periods since reform andopening-up. These characteristics could help us to understand the development ofChinese defense-related science and technology, and could help us a lot to make amuch more clever policy.Since reform and opening-up, Chinese defense-related science and technology havedeveloped rapidly by succeeding the defense-related science and technologydevelopment experience since the founding of New China. In the meantime, we arefacing the new revolution in military affairs. The rapid revolution asked China shouldclosely follow the new global military revolution trends, to put more efforts topromote the reform of our national defense and armed forces in a both active andprudent way, and deepen military transformation with Chinese characteristics. Withinnovative military theories taking the lead, we should enhance our innovationabilities in defense-oriented research and industries, elevate modernize and scientificlevel of military organizational structure, and build a system of modern military forceswith Chinese characteristics. To research the fundamental feature and characteristicsof China’s defense industry in different period of time since reform and opening-up,we can know the development trend of defense industry better, and only though thiscan help us draw a much more clear picture of the defense-related science andtechnology enterprise in the future.This thesis described the reform in Chinese defense-related science and technologyarea since reform and opening-up, combining history and reality, analysing almost30years’ documents to find the key points the thesis want to discuss.
