Wong Kar-wai, since the film "The Grandmaster" opened, has become the focusof global attention once again, attracting tremendous attention from Chinese filmindustry and international film industry, it is reported that the film "The Grandmaster"took eight years to produce. As a master screenwriter and director influenced by TheHong Kong New Wave, Wong Kar-wai is well known for his highly individualnarrative and image style, received countless awards and honors and continuedsteadily and constantly on the road to become one of the most accomplished andinfluential film directors in the worldwide.Considering the long and profound influence of films directed by Wong Kar-waiin Chinese-language films industry, this paper is intended to analyze the Wong’snarrative and image style with Filmology and Semiotics of cinema.The whole paper is made up of four chapters, the first chapter is intended tosummarize the development of Wong’s films, especially analyze and discuss thebackground, subject and crucial persons involved in the creation of the piece. Apartfrom, this article also discuss some major periods of Wong Kar-wai in the first chapterso the reader can get an initial understanding towards films mentioned in thefollowing three chapters.In the second chapter, it mainly analyze the narrative code of Wong’s film toexpress the artistry of color code, the symbolism of image code and the invisiblespace based on the music code. In addition, the second chapter discusses the imageidentity and narrative functions of color, the meaning of article chosen and thenarrating time and space based on the music in the specific film.Chapter three is intended to analyze the narrative strategies of the Wong kar-waifilm; it starts with the characters of identity and subjective narrative time, narrative innonlinear narrative structure and voice-over narrative strategy and analyzes fouraspects mentioned above combining specific films.The last chapter mainly discusses the Wong kar-wai film style’s specific impactof the new generation directors from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Besides,it explains the similarities between the new generation of director and director Wongkar-wai. Finally, this paper explores the creation enlightenment of the new generationlearned from Wong’s films, from narrative value orientation and narrative structuretwo aspects combined with the specific film.
