Carl Nielsen, Denmark’s most important composers in the early20th century, whose works had aprofound influence on Denmark even across northern Europe music, was regarded as the greatestmusician in the history of music in Denmark. Nielsen’s music is novel and unique, compared to the lateromantic music. His master work is the sixth symphonies and his most unique style features which can bereflected in the fourth, fifth, sixth symphony. The three symphonies all reflect the innovation concept andcomposing technology skillfully of Nielsen himself for symphony, no matter from the aspects of thestructure or the stereo color etc. At the same time, they are a portrayal of human life by showing the spiritof the pursuit of a better life of people in the World War I.The thesis is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is mainly about Nielsen’s life, his creative process, some major works and creationexperience of the composer himself.The second chapter is to open a simple introduction about the composing background of Nielsen’sthree main symphonies by analyzing the overall and the detailed structure.The third chapter I will do some research on the three symphonies’"overlapping structure" ofNielsen, which is divided into macro "overlapping structure" and microcosmic "overlapping structure". Itwill be discussed from the whole layout and local layout in macro, and mainly from the music structureelements in micro, such as rhythm, rhythm, texture, harmony, tonality, detail, etc.The fourth chapter mainly will analyze the thematic structure characteristics of the three symphonies,from the theme of the musical mode and the theme of the interval structure is analyzed.Nielsen’s three symphonies condensed the creation concept and thinking logic of his lifetime, whichwere also the indispensable important work of studying Nielsen’s symphonies creation. At the same time,these three symphonies also can be regarded as the most powerful symphony works in reflecting thenational music culture element. This thesis mainly is based on the formal structure of the threesymphonies, the "overlapping structure" and the theme of the structural characteristics in depth analysisand research, from the perspective of the composition to dig Nielsen’s symphony music languages,providing a useful reference for more people to abtain a better understanding of Nielsen’s knowledge of symphony music works. |
