In the history of Chinese literature, family narrative is the consistent theme. In theprocess of looking the declining family back, Bai Xian-yong and Su Tong worked tirelessly innovels. Both of them focus on declining family, female perspective and obsession with colorwhich has some similarities. But, based on a novel by text analysis, exploring spiritualconnotation in literary creation to the two is rare. After reading the novel texts of BaiXian-yong and Su Tong, I try to analysis of the family theme, the female image and colorimage three perspectives, compares the overlap and differences with the reconstruction of thefamily and personal development, and try to analysis of the two different between heritageand development in the fusion of Chinese and Western cultural exchanges. In this paper,except the introduction and conclusion, is divided into four parts:In chapter one, the family subject are analyzed. The first section mainly describes thedecline of family. Bai Xian-yong described the families’ are speeding swiftly on the road toperdition, Su Tong described the family has already declined, only to show through thereconstruction. Section second focuses on the expression of the two people in the constructionof family. Bai Xian-yong used the method of isomorphic, bound family and country together,the novels is full of historical implication. Su Tong used the anti traditional way, let the herovoluntarily went into decline, with the demise of the decline.The second chapter mainly carries on the image of typical women in the novels of thetwo. The first section focuses on compares and analyses of both repressed family femalefigures in fiction. The family women in Bai Xian-yong’s novels chose to put up with whenthey faced the sexual repression and who in Su Tong’s novels revolt but ultimatelyinescapable sad ending. The second section focuses on the analysis of the image of prostitutesin the two novels. The prostitutes in Bai Xian-yong’s novels had been in misery and who hadno sense of independence and always dependence on men in Su Tong’s novels. The thirdsection mainly depicts the confrontation between mother and daughter. In Bai Xian-yong’snovels, mother-daughter confrontation battle not only within the family, but more importantlyis the collision of two different cultures, and Su Tong told us,if female lack of rationality and restraint,they will collapse and fall.Chapter three analyzes the color images in both novels. The first section analyzes the redimages.For Bai Xian-yong, red is a symbol of vitality, but Su Tong thought red is a symbol ofdesire. The second section analyzes the white images. Bai thought whiteness is emblematic ofpurity but for Su white is cold. The third section analyzes the skill on using the color. Baispecializes in using contrast and Su is very good at using color flow.The fourth chapter is mainly about the art forms in both novels. The first sectionanalyzes the inheritance of traditional culture. Bai focused on the characterization and plotshape, and Su paid attention to the theme of creation and usage. The second section analyzesthe reference to Western Art of the two. Bai specializes in the use of stream of consciousnessand Freud’s psychological analysis, and Su is good at applying avant-garde art, like fictionand absurd.
