In recent years, the ’Seek Roots Tour in China’ Spring (Winter) Camp for Overseas Ethnic Youngsters that held by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council was launched very successfully in many colleges around the country. Among all kinds of courses that have different themes, art classes occupy an important position. With the development of this activity, the cognition of the activity by the teachers in teaching of Chinese as a foreign language area is going deeply. The author thinks that the Cognition Method is very suitable for art classes of this activity depend on author’s experiences. In this paper, the author chose three classes which are dancing class、writing class and paper-cutting class to analyze the application of Cognition Method. Also, the author summarized the best way to use Cognition Method in classroom and gave some suggestions to solve the existing problems in this area.This paper was divided into seven parts:Chapter1introduced the background、the purpose and significance of the topic, also mentioned the main issue that discussed、the theoretical foundation and the research method.Chapter2is literature review part, the author summarized the previous studies about Cognition Method、art classes of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and Chinese language study of overseas ethnic youngsters. Based on these literatures, the author pointed out the defects of previous studies and leaded to the content of this paper.Chapter3to Chapter5is case analysis of particular classes. The author chose three classes which are dancing class、writing class and paper-cutting class to analyze how to use Cognition Method in each class with different standards.In Chapter6, the author summarized the problems that exist in art classes of this activity and gave the suggestions of how to solve these problems. The problems were divided into two parts, and the author also pointed out how to use Cognition Method in class can meet the purpose of teaching.The last part is conclusion; the author summarized the results of this research, and illustrated the innovations and the defects of this paper.
