To study a language not only means to study words and grammar; it also means to understand its society and culture. Therefore, foreign language teachers should always care about how to bring sociocultural elements into the classroom. There are many ways to do that. One of them is through audiovisual media.Audiovisual material used in language learning not only can help students to have a deeper knowledge of a society or a culture, but also has powerful potential in developing language skills, but of course it has to be used in a proper way. The present thesis focuses on how to use this kind of material in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. That is, which types of media are the most suitable to use in class and how to use them to develop students’ language skills like listening, speaking and vocabulary learning.An important part of the present thesis explains the experience of the candidate while doing practical training in a Chinese school with Spanish students. In this part there is a detailed description of the training process, including the teaching method, the audiovisual materials that were used and the students’ opinion about the whole class.Audiovisual materials used in Chinese teaching as a foreign language has still a lot of research margin, we wish more researchers to notice the advantatges of these materials in order to promote Chinese teaching and to further the promotion of Chinese culture.
