Religious beliefs as long and common social phenomenon in human history, is auniquely human mental life of a component. In the west, religious education hasbeen carrying out the important task of ideological and political education, moraleducation to citizens, solve the problem of citizen’s thought and spiritual confusion,cultivates civil society, religion, plays an important role in maintaining social stability,etc. As a socialist country in China, on the one hand, adhere to Marxism as theguiding ideology, on the other hand, the policy on freedom of religious belief.Therefore, how to use Marxist religion, the right attitude towards religion culture andinfluence, studied the western religious education for the reference value ofideological and political education in our country, absorbing the beneficial factors inthe western religious education, is the issue of ideological and political educationdiscipline in China need to study, have certain theoretical significance and practicalsignificance.This paper is divided into four parts: the introduction part mainly expounds thesignificance of this article, the relevant research achievements were summarized, andpointed out in this paper, we study the principle, namely adhere to Marxist religion,the establishment of Marxism belief goal, a comprehensive understanding ofreligious education for our country the influence of the ideological and politicaleducation, correctly differentiated between religion and religious education, play areligious aspect positive role in promoting social harmony and so on. The first chapter,from the perspective of the connotation of religious education, summarizes thesituation of western religious education, from the function, content and methodthree aspects elaborated the western religious education of ideological and politicaleducation. The second chapter mainly analyzes and discusses the western religiouseducation and the relationship of ideological and political education in our country.Contact both in content and cross and the function of convergence, the similaritybetween the methods, etc; Both the difference on the difference in social statusdifference, the difference on the content, the nature of and so on.
