Tech Taoism Festival Palace In Kunming

Taoist sacrificial rite is a unique ritual and the main content of in the development of Daoism history. As being a cultural phenomena of sacrifice which has been lasting and practicing a thousand year, its religious significance and functions is the root of its existence. Generally, the sacrifice of Daoism possesses the character of stability, although the sacrifices of Daoism itself changes in the wake of the social condition. Contemporary Daoism inherits the main traditional Taoist sacrificial rites, meanwhile its practices display the diversity and localization as a result of its abundant contents, various focus of branches, the scattered folk Taoist priests and the succession of the teachings of masters to his disciples.Through the study of longevity palace in Kunming in the past two years,I found that its Taoist sacrificial rite retains the customs of Ming dynasty, manifesting its distinct provincial styles in the wake of time goes on, the change of social condition and the fusion of Daoism culture and folk culture. The rituals of Longevity Palace inherited the Changchun School,Zhenyi Tech in Ming and Qing dynasties and showed a unique local style.The Articles use a such of Methodologies include literature reference,participant observation and in-depth interview to research,record and analysis the process of three most typical rituals.So,we can understand the local characteristic of taoist rituals well.
