Chinese Subjective Limited Constructions "V + Interrogative Form Can Not" Research

In recent years, linguistic pay more and more attention to the ConstructionGrammar, and the research has yielded fruitful results. The main research object ofthis paper is the common construction “V buliao+interrogatory” in the modernChinese. Based on the Construction Grammar of Goldberg, this thesis conducts adetailed interpretation on the three sub constructions“V buliao+duoshao (O)”，“Vbuliao+duojiu”and“V buliao+shenme (O)”, we try to explore the syntacticfeatures, the construction meaning and the pragmatic features repectively. The paperdivided into three parts.The first part is preface. In this part, we expound the research meaning andsource of this paper, introduce the current research status, explain the researchcontent, methods and the source of the linguistic data, etc.The second part is principal, it includes five chapters.Chapter one is the overview study of construction “V buliao+interrogatory”.We hold that this construction as the common oral expression in Chinese, it canexpress unique structure meaning, named “the limited level of subjective review.”Pointed out that the three common sub constructions is “V buliao+duoshao (O)”,“Vbuliao+duojiu” and “V buliao+shenme (O)”.Chapter two is the case study of construction“V buliao+duoshao (O)”. Wediscuss the choice of“V”, the structure meaning, the discourse context and themakeup of this construction. First, the verb which entered the construction must be“V(计量)”. Second, on the semantic this construction can be divided into fourtypes, the gain and loss, the cognition, the behavior and the change. Again, thisconstruction is often used in subordindate complex sentence, also in comparativesentence and Verb-copying sentence, etc.Chapter three is the case study of construction“V buliao+duojiu”. From theselection of“V”, we find out that the“V”is mainly composed of monosyllabic verb,also the verb must be“V(持续)”and the verb which entered the construction aremostly action verb. From the syntactic, the construction “V buliao+duojiu” mainly acts as predicate and attribute, can also take adverbial modifier, sometimes theconstruction co-occurrence with discourse markers. From the semantics, the “limitedlevel of subjective review” which this construction expressed can be divided intothree kinds, the last time of action is limited, the through time after the actioncompleted is limited, the duration of condition is limited. From the pragmatic, theconstruction can be used in subordindate complex sentence, comparative sentence,emphatic sentence and coverbial sentence.Chapter four is the case study of construction “V buliao+shenme (O)”. Westudy on the syntactic form, semantic feature and pragmatic context. First of all, interms of syntax, this construction can serve as predicate, attribute and object, alsocan co-occurrence with adverbial modifier and discourse markers. Secondly, in termsof semantics, this construction expresses the limited level of subjective review, is apossible limitation, it displays the semantic characteristics of possibilities. In addition,in the aspect of pragmatics, this construction is often used in the declarativesentence, interrogative sentence and exclamatory sentence. Furthermore, insubordindate complex sentence and comparative sentence, we can also find thisconstruction.Chapter five is the generalities and individualities study of construction “Vbuliao+interrogatory”. On the basis of the study in past three chapters, we try tosummarize the generalities and individualities features of construction “V buliao+interrogatory”. The generalities features mainly display in the selection of “V”, thesyntactic structure, the construction meaning and the discourse context, etc. Theindividualities features are mainly composed of the diversity of interrogativepronoun.The third part is the conclusion. This part combs the content of the past fivechapters, summarizes the research achievements of this paper, put forward thepaper writing and further research topic.
