The first part of this article is a summary about the progress in choosing hypotensor dialectically. First we introduce the different understanding of hypertension between Chinese medicine and Western medicine. From the perspect of traditional Chinese medicine we describe the etiology、pathogenesis、 differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome of hypertension. From the western point we introduce the prevalence、risk factors、 pathogenesis、the treatment of hypertension. And then we fund some shortcomings exist in the treatment of hypertension of Western medicine currently, so we propose the concept of "dialectical choice of hypotensor" to solve those problems. We have summarized most of the present researches on dialectical choice of hypotensor, and discovered some problems again, such as:the small number of drugs and clinical samples, the unstandardized base of researches, the low efficiency of studies, which cause us to figure out a better research method.The second part of this article is clinical research.Objective:We found that different patients react differently after taking the same nifedipine controlled release tablets. Some patients even not only the symptoms have not improved, but also add some other discomfort, such as headache、constipation、insomnia et. In order to avoid choose medicine blindly, it’s necessary to figure out the traditional Chinese medicine characteristics of it. The purpose of the research is to find the Chinese herbal nature、 channel tropism and efficacy of nifedipine controlled release tablets by observing the patients’changes in symptoms after taking it. Method:First, we established the basic syndromes of traditional Chinese medicine and complete the research handbook of choosing western medicine dialectically". On this basis, we collected30hypertensive patients’ clinical information who have taken nifedipine controlled release tablets, including symptoms、physical signs、physical and chemical examination. By observing the patients’changes in symptoms after one week and one month to discover the Chinese herbal nature、channel tropism and efficacy of it.Results:1. The influence of nifedipine controlled release tablets on syndrome.1.1Nifedipine controlled release tablets is more effective on cold syndrome than on heat syndrome, whilst there is a trend of deterioration on heat syndrome. However, since sample size is small, there has been no statistical significance, it is necessary to increase the sample size for further verification.1.2Nifedipine controlled release tablets has improvements on both asthenia syndrome and excessive syndrome, and differences are not obvious. However, since sample size is small, there has been no statistical significance, it is necessary to increase the sample size for further verification.1.3Nifedipine controlled release tablets is more effective on yang deficiency syndrome than on yin deficiency syndrome. However, since sample size is small, there has been no statistical significance, it is necessary to increase the sample size for further verification.1.5Nifedipine controlled release tablets has improved the conditions of patients with bravery、stomach、intestinal disease, in which bravery disease patients improved the most. Stomach disease patients rank the second, then intestinal disease patients. Negative effects are on bladder disease patients. However, since sample size is small, there has been no statistical significance, it is necessary to increase the sample size for further verification.1.6Nifedipine controlled release tablets has improved the conditions of retained fluid、blood stasis、deficiency of vital energy、qi prostration、 qi collapse patients’ syndromes, in which retained fluid patients improved the most, blood stasis patients rank the second, then deficiency of vital energy patients. However, since sample size is small, there has been no statistical significance, it is necessary to increase the sample size for further verification.1.7Nifedipine controlled release tablets has improved the conditions of cold-evil、damp-evil、wind-evil、dyspepsia patients’syndromes, in which cold-evil patients improved the most, damp-evil、wind-evil patients rank the second, then dyspepsia patients. However, since sample size is small, there has been no statistical significance, it is necessary to increase the sample size for further verification.2. The influence of nifedipine controlled release tablets on blood pressure.2.1Nifedipine controlled release tablets has positive influences on most of the patients’systolic blood pressure of different syndrome. The ranking of influence goes like cystipathy>excessive syndrome>enteropathy>retained fluid>dyspepsia.2.2Nifedipine controlled release tablets has positive influences on most of the patients’diastolic blood pressure of different syndrome. The ranking of influence goes like excessive syndrome> stomach disease> deficiency of vital energy. Conclusion:We speculate that the Chinese herbal nature of nifedipine controlled release tablets is warm, the channel tropism is heart、bladder、stomach and intestine. There are significant improvement in retained fluid、boold stasis、 cold syndrome、cold evil and damp evil syndrome.
