Objective:To observe the effects of the scalp acupuncture on central post-stroke pain, so as to discuss the significance of acupuncture for the purpose of searching a method which is more effective and receptive by patients in clinical.Methods:Seventy patients were randomly divided into two groups, treatment group and control group. There were35patients each group. Patients in the control group were treated with Amitriptyline for four weeks, while these in the treatment group received the treatment of scalp acupuncture. All patients were assessed before and after therapy. The evaluating items included:Visual Analogue Scale/Score(VAS), short-form of McGill pain questionnaire(SF-McGill).Results:(1) There is a significant improvement (P<0.01) of VAS,SF-McGill before and after therapy.(2) There is a significant improvement (P<0.05) of VAS,SF-McGill between treatment group and control group.(3) There is a significant difference (P<0.05) of clinical curative effectiveness between treatment group and control group, and the former is better than the latter.Conclusion:Scalp acupuncture and Amitriptyline are both benefit for the improvement of Central post-strok pain.In VAS,SF-McGill and the clinical curative effectiveness, Scalp acupuncture is better than Amitriptyline,and the former is more likely to be accepted by the patients.
