Objective:As incidence rate of the depression is getting higher and higher in tod ay’s society, and its danger to people is also gradually increasing, and the effective mec hanism of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of depression is not clear,so t his study tries to explore the pathogenesis of depression in order to lay the foundatio n for the future evaluation of therapeutic efficiency of traditional Chinese medicine. S o in this study, the change regulation of the depression patients’and various TCM syn drome types’whole and various encephalic regions’multi-neurotransmitters-serotonin,ac etylcholine, dopamine, norepinephrine, depression neurotransmitters and excited neurotrans mitters are analysed by SET(Search of Encephalo-Telex)system,which lays the foundati on for the diagnosis of depression.Method:We collect the brain wave of120depression patients based on the diagn ostic criteria and40compare(normal) people to compare and analyse by the SET. This study include the preliminary exploration of neurotransmitters in the whole and vario us encephalic regions, the study of antagonizing pairs of neurotransmitters and the rel evance among the neurotransmitters, the analysis of the six neurotransmitters state in d epression patients and two main TCM symptoms.According to the different symptoms, the depression patients are divided into two main TCM symptoms, they are liver qi sta gnation and yin deficiency of liver.Result:1.Contrased with the normal man group, the mean value of the six neurotra nsmitters in depression patients group are:①n the whole encephalic region of depressi on patients group the dopamine fall (P<0.05), and in the right frontal region, double central regions, right parietal region and right front temporal region distinct fall(.P<0.01);②in the right frontal region and right front temporal region of depression patient s group the serotonin rise (P<0.05);③in the right central region, left parietal region of depression patients group the acetylcholine fall (P<0.05), left rear temporal region fall obviously (P<0.01);④in the left central region the norepinephrine rise (P<0.05).2.The correlation research between antagonizing pairs of neurotransmitters and the correlation research between neurotransmitters:①he three antagonizing pairs of neurot ransmitters-serotonin and dopamine, acetylcholine and norepinephrine, depression neurotra nsmitters and excited neurotransmitters,in ordinary person group and depression patient s group are characterized by middle or strong negative correlation.Serotonin and dopa mine, which are characterized by weak negative correlation in the right rear temporal region of ordinary person group, are characterizeed by strong negative correlation in th e other encephalic regions and the whole encephalic(ordinary person group except the right rear temporal region:the range of|r|is [0.82,0.92],P<0.01)/(depression pa tients group:the range of|r|is[0.88,0.94], P<0.01); acetylcholine and norepinephrine, in the whole and various encephalic region are characterized by middle negative corre lation (ordinary person group:the range of|r|is[0.39,0.76], P<0.01or P<0.05)/(d epression patients group:the range of|r|is [0.56,0.64], P<0.01); depression neurotran smitters and excited neurotransmitters are characterized by middle strong negative corr elation (ordinary person group:the range of|r|is[0.57,0.80], P<0.01)/(depression p atients group:the range of|r|is[0.68,0.78], P<0.01).②The two neurotransmitters whic h are not antagonizing pairs of neurotransmitters, serotonin and excited neurotransmitter s,or acetylcholine and depression neurotransmitters,or dopamine and depression neurotra nsmitters in the various encephalic regions are characterized by weak negative correlat ion. Serotonin and excited neurotransmitters are characterizeed by weak negative correla tion (ordinary person group:in the right central region, left parietal region, double front t emporal regions, right rear temporal region, the range of|r|is [0.25,0.55], P<0.01or P <0.05)/(depression patients group:in the whole encephalic regions, left frontal regio n, left central region, double parietal regions, double occipital regions, right front tempora1region,the range of|r|is [0.18,0.37], P<0.01or P<0.05); acetylcholine and depres sion neurotransmitters are characterized by weak negative correlation (ordinary person group:in the whole region, double frontal regions, left parietal region, left front temporal region, right rear temporal region, the range of|r|is[0.31,0.46], P<0.01or P<0.05)/(depression patients group:in the left central region, double occipital regions, right front temporal region, double rear temporal regions, the range of|r|is[0.20,0.32], P<0.01or P<0.05); dopamine and depression neurotransmitters are characterized by weak midd le negative correlation (ordinary person group:in left parietal region, right central region, left frontal region, left occipital region, double front temporal regions, the range of|r|is [0.33,0.68], P<0.01or P<0.05)/(depression patients group:in the whole region an d other various regions except the left frontal region, right central region, the range of|r|is[0.21,0.34], P<0.01or P<0.05).Dopamine and acetylcholine or norepinephrine an d serotonin are characterized by weak positive correlation in all encephalic regions.Do pamine and acetylcholine are characterized by weak positive correlation(ordinary perso n group:in the left frontal region, right parietal region, right front temporal region and d ouble temporal region, the range of|r|is[0.33,0.46],P<0.01)/(depression patients gr oup:in the whole region and the orther various regions except the double central regi ons, the range of|r|is [0.23,0.35], P<0.01or P<0.05); norepinephrine and serotoni n are characterized by weak positive correlation (ordinary person group:in the right fr ontal region, left parietal region, double temporal regions, the range of|r|is[0.34,0.48], P <0.01or P<0.05)/(depression patients group:in the whole and various regions, the r ange of|r|is[0.18,0.42], P<0.0l).3.The main state of six neurotransmitters in the wh ole region in depression patients are:in the whole region depression neurotransmitter in crease serotonin increase acetylcholine decrease dopamine decrease norepinephrine incr ease excited neurotransmitters decrease and depression neurotransmitter decrease seroto nin increase acetylcholine decrease dopamine decrease norepinephrine increase excited neurotransmitters increase.4.The neurotransmitters in the two main TCM syndrome typ es of depression patients are characterized by:dopamine decrease or include dopamine decrease, serotonin increase or include serotonin increase, acetylcholine decrease or incl ude acetylcholine decrease, they are the same with the depression patients.Conclusion.Depression patients’brain are characterized by multi-neurotransmitters abnormal, the synchronous change of multi-neurotransmitters has some certain regularit ies, the three antagonizing pairs of neurotransmitters-serotonin and dopamine, acetylcholi ne and norepinephrine, depression eurotransmitters and excited neurotransmitters of com pare person group and depression patients group, are both characterized by strong anta gonizing relation, that the two neurotransmitters which are not antagonizing pairs of ne urotransmitters are characterized by weak positive correlation or negative correlation,pr ompt maybe has the indirect causal relationship. And the change of six neurotransmitt ers in depression patients’various encephalic regions is rather complex. It’s conformed preliminarily that the depression patients’neurotransmitters in the whole region are c haracterrized by depression neurotransmitter increase serotonin increase acetylcholine d ecrease dopamine decrease norepinephrine increase excited neurotransmitters decrease a nd depression neurotransmitter decrease serotonin increase acetylcholine decrease dopa mine decrease norepinephrine increase excited neurotransmitters increase.
