Chinese Pharmacovigilance Database Creation

Objective: To establish database based on the early warning function forChinese medicine Chinese herbal medicines and traditional Chinesemedicine and western medicine and ADR (adverse drug reactions),which isfocusing on traditional Chinese medicine adverse reaction.Methods: Establishment of the database fully integrates with its owncharacteristics of traditional Chinese medicine ADR. It refers to theadverse drug reaction/incident report form corresponding collectedrelevant literature and learns from the relational database experiencein building a database. Through the retrospective system evaluation andselection, and experts’demonstration by Delphi methods, the name of thedrug, drug class, origin, batch number, product name and others in total50data items as a basic entry are confirmed finally. The CNKI, Wan-fang,Wei-pu three large literature database as search range, Chinese medicineAND (adverse reactions or pharmacovigilance or toxic side effects orallergic reactions)"as the search strategy,2002-2012interval as theretrieval time limit are determined. Relevant database resources havealso been collected. It’s planned to build a Chinese medicinepharmacovigilance database system with a set of retrieval and intelligentanalysis collaborative function and clinical early warning function.Results: The architecture design, platform construction, and enteringwork of some information resources of the preparation for building adatabase with ADR early warning function has been completed partially.The database statistical analysis function is still evolving.Conclusion: The establishment of the database can provide early warningsystem for traditional Chinese medicine clinical rational drug use,technical support and reference pathway for avoiding Chinese medicineadverse reactions, and reference for the information improvement andexchange of the national ADR monitoring platform. This database system has a lot of advantages in clinical applications including the informationresources comprehensive, timeliness, retrieval and statistical functions,and can realize the sharing of network resources, however, the systemshould be improved in terms of information entry and statistical functionsat this stage.
