Competence Of The Composition And Status Of The Patient To Participate In The Chinese Context

China is being transformed from command economy to market economy, which unavoidably leads to a variety of conflicts in our society. It is a top priority to reform our health care system. The relationship between patients and hospitals is a vital issue at the process of the reform in China. To improve the relationship between patients and hospitals patients can participate in the related treatment, which require patients to be equipped with some corresponding capabilities. Therefore the research on these capabilities becomes valued by scholars. However, the research on the capabilities of patients’participation is in its infancy thus enormous problems remain to be examined and solved.We get a definition of patients’participation competence based on lots of research domestically and overseas, that is the skills and knowledge for patients to take patients’participation competence part in the activity of treatment.Then through the analysis about the concept, we build the model of patients’participation competence. Patients’ participatation competence is formed by Objective participatation competence and subjective participatation competence. Objective participatation competence includes Information acquisition competence and Autonomous decision-making competence, while subjective participatation competence includes Communication competence and emotion management competence. First, on the foundation of research abroad and the four parts of patient participatation competence, we develop a scale of31items to measure the present situation of the patient participatation of our country. According to the result, we make a conclusion that the level of our patients’participatation competence is medium. Second, we use descriptive statistics, independent-sample test and variance analysis to measure the difference of patient participatation competence in demographic variable.This article develops four parts of patients’participation competence, which enrich the knowledge about patient participatation.We hope that this article will do some good to improve the serve level of hospital one day. The research findings can provide inspiration and advice to enhance the level of patient participatation competence, to improve medical care system and to reduce medical disputes.
