Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of combining the traditional Chinese medicine with ursodeoxycholic acid to treat primary biliary cirrhosis. Methods:Search the literature from the weipu journal full-text database (VIP), tsinghua journal full-text database (CNKI), wanfang database, western biomedical literature database of library of chengdu university of traditional Chinese medicine and the Cochrane library of controlled clinical trials and PUBMED and retrieve part of Chinese core journals by hand, and search for the referenced literature related, according to the System evaluation general method.Time limited before2012. screening literature according to the included and excluded standard, and then evaluate quality of the literature according to evaluation standard of quality the Cochrane system member manual have recommended, and then analysis the data by using RevMan5.2software.Results:Fifteen research were identified which included a total of997cases of patients with primary biliary cirrhosis. The methodological quality of all the research is relatively low. The meta-analysis results showed compared with the control group, the treatment group showed a better clinical curative effects(OR=4.36,95%Cl[3.00,6.33]) and can better improve the signs and symptoms integral(WMD=5.85,95%CI[2.99,8.71]), clinical symptoms of fatigue(WMD=1.60,95%CI[1.12,2.08],OR=4.56,95%CI[2.40,8.69]) and itching(WMD=2.20,95%CI[1.92,2.48],OR=2.41,95%CI[1.24,4.69]), lower serum alkaline phosphatase(WMD=60.08,95%[40.62,79.53]), r-glutamine transaminase(WMD=14.68,95%[10.32,19.04]),and can better lower alanine aminotransferase(WMD=25.63,95%CI[11.11,40.14]),and also lower aspartate aminotransferase(WMD=20.56,95%[8.23,32.90]),immunoglobulin M and total bilirubin(WMD=0.73,95%CI[0.05,1.40]),(WMD=14.68,95%CI[10.32,19.04]), the recurrence rate(OR=0.25,95%CI[0.14,0.43]). All of this have statistical significance.Five research observed safety indexes and adverse reactions,-there Is only one research descripte the adverse reactions, mainly including TBA elevating, diarrhea, but there is no statistical differences when compared. One of the control group member of the research appeared mild diarrhea after treatment for3days,and eased oneday later. The rest of the three studies without adverse reactions occur. Conclusion:This study suggests that on the basis of general treatment and symptomatic treatment traditional Chinese medicine combined with Ursodeoxycholic acid on treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis may be a relatively safe and effective treatment method. But because the number of included studies are limited, and the research have a low methodological quality, there are many limitations, further large sample, high quality of multicenter, randomized, double-blind controlled trial are needed to confirmed the conclusion.
