Objective To assese the association between IL-6-174G/Cgene polymorphisms and the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with osteoporosis.Methods123Kunming Han male patients who were diagnosed COPD and the COPD patients are divided into two groups:the osteoporosis group (OP group)have56persons and non-osteoporosis group have67persons(NOP group),102healthy Kunming Han male subjects were selected as the NC group. Genomic DNA was extracted and-174G/C polymorphisms was detected with PCR-RFLP method.We analysed the difference of genotypes and the frequencies of alleles of IL-6-174G/C gene polymorphisms among the groups. We also analysed the relationship between IL-6-174G/C gene polymorphisms and the FEV1%predicted value, BMD value, and whether its distribution are same with reported polymorphisms in other ethnic comparison.Results There were no statistically differences both in genotype and in allele frequency among the three groups (X2=0.033,P=0.855, X2=0.104,p=0.708, X2=0.012,p=0.912、 X2=0.042,p=0.831).No correlation between the IL-6-174G/C gene polymorphisms and FEV1%predicted and BMD value(t=0.117, P=0.907; t=0.301, P=0.765; t=0.275, P=0.784; X2=0.102,p=0.597; X2=0.064,p=0.628; X2=0.089,p=0.512; X2=0.025,p=0.572.) IL-6-174G/C genotype and allele frequencies and the results have been reported in this study population compared to prompt its distribution in different ethnic difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusions (1) There might be no association between IL-6-174G/C gene polymorphisms and BMD in the Kunming Han male Chinese.(2) There might be no association between IL-6-174G/C gene polymorphisms and osteoporosis in male patient with COPD in the Kunming Han male Chinese.(3) The IL-6-174G/C gene polymorphisms distribution of racial and regional differences are significantin. The concentration of plasma IL-6was measured by ELISA.We analysed the relationship between IL-6and the BMD values,FEV1%predicted value. Results Among the3group,the concentrationof IL-6difference was statistically significant(X2=44.297, P<0.001). Plasma IL-6concentrations and BMD values, FEV1%predicted value have correlation (P<0.05).Conclusions (1) There was an association between the concentration of plasma IL-6and COPD.(2) There was an association between the concentration of plasma IL-6and BMD.(3) There was an association between the concentration of plasma IL-6and osteoporosis in male patient with COPD. We compare the different plasma25(OH)D3among the3group.We analysed the relationship between25(OH) D3and the BMD values,FEV1%predicted value.Results Plasma25(OH) D3concentrations ingroupof NC、OP、NOP is19.885±2.65ng/ml、17.469±2.12ng/ml、19.540±2.58ng/ml.Among the3group, the concentration of25(OH)D3difference was statistically significant(t=7.048, P=0.001). Plasma25(OH) D3concentrations and BMD values, FEV1%predicted value have correlation (P<0.05).Conclusions1.The average of plasma25(OH)D3is below20ng/ml in the Kunming Han male.2.The decline of plasma25(OH)D3might be risk factors for COPD combined with OP.Proposal complement vitamin D, add the appropriate duration of sunshine among COPD to prevent OP.
