The real-time detection of moving targets has significant practical value in military and civil fields, such as locating, tracking, alarming and recognition. A new kind of detection system is introduced by the correlational millimeter radiometry in this paper. With the weak signal of the electromagnetic radiation, the angular velocity and the distance of the target would be estimated. This paper would be divided into the following sections:Firstly, the theoretical basis of a millimeter radiometry is discussed. On this basis, two kinds of millimeter radiometor system are analyzed, and the detection system used for moving targets detection is introduced.Secondly, the parameter of the detection system is given, such as the working frequence, the baseline of the antennas and the bandwidth of the system. At the same time, the system detecting method for the moving targets is presented. Error and performance of the detection system are analyzed, such as the sensitivity, the working distance, and the target’s spatial resolution and dwell time. Finally, the signal processing method of the detection system is studied. Signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) is analyzed in both time domain and time-frequence domain with the method of time-frequence energy analysis based on short-time fourier transform. According to the relations of the detection performance and the SNR, the system’s detection performance is estimated.
