The development of nuclear power is closely associated with safety factors. Once anaccident occurs in a nuclear power plant, it can mean almost anything: great economic loss,negative social impact upon the country, etc. Up to now, the commonly seen nuclear poweraccidents have been brought about by human errors, while inappropriate HMI designing isjust the primary cause of human errors. For this reason, excellent HMI designing is animportant guarantee to reduce human errors and then prevent nuclear power accidents.However, it needs a scientific method to supervise the process of HMI designing in order toensure the quality of HMI designing. MCR is the control center of a nuclear power plant,where happen most of the human-machine interactions, it is equipped with the control systemto monitor the running state of nuclear power plants. With various system variables and highdegree of automation, the design of HMI in MCR become a lot more complicated. Afterdigital technology was introduced into main control system, the HMI in MCR mainly consistof computer workstations, which have great advantages in information processing. While onthe other hand, operators have to handle the management of interfaces, giving operators morework burden, thus leading to some new human errors. In order to provide effective evaluationmethods for digital HMI in MCR of nuclear power plants, Specific researches about HMIevaluation theory in this thesis are as follows:1) Draw a comparison between digital HMI and traditional HMI at MCR in NPP.2) With the help of evaluation index optimizing standard, analyze the multi-factorsynthetic method proposed by previous scholars, do some improvement to make it fitfor the optimization of evaluation index.3) Make use of the improved multi-factor synthetic method to construct a simplifiedevaluation index system for HMI at MCR of NPP.4) Take the simplified evaluation index system for HMI at MCR of NPP as the softwarefunction model, design and develop an HMI synthetic evaluation system.
