Forging industry which consumes high energy is the foundation of the mechanical manufacturing. Forging scheduling occupies an important part of the enterprise informatization. The better forging scheduling can make a contribution to higher forging efficiency, lower cost, faster response speed to the changes outside and also saving time.As a result, it is of great practical significance to make a study of forging scheduling. In this paper, forging scheduling is fully studied for a project of enterprise informatization, and a multi-agent model of forging scheduling system is presented combined with practical production. The conclusions are as follows:(1) A multi-agent model of forging scheduling system is presented to meet different characteristics of forging technology and scheduling according to function analysis of the system.(2) Forging task is decomposed according to the characteristic in the key part of the production. Then, a modified contract-net is proposed to make up the shorts of traditional contract-net when solving unit scheduling problems. At last, several unusual problems are solved during the forging scheduling.(3) Different forging units are arranged within themselves in different ways. When dealing with forging and heat treatment units, scheduling can be divided into batch loading and batch scheduling, which can be researched separately. A combination of genetic algorithm and contract-net is studied because of the multi-process of forging units and the complex of scheduling.(4) On the basis of the study above and the practical production DVR, the multi-agent forging scheduling design of system and database is completed, which can achieve multi-agent forging scheduling and make a great contribution to practical production.
