This paper explores applying Lean Production tools to the wastewater treatment of N-company. During the process, Lean Production tools such as5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) were adopted to improve the current management practices of the continuous production process. The study started with a value stream analysis of the current wastewater treatment processes to differentiate between the value-adding and non-value-adding activities, and identified the inadequate processes where the high cost and waste were generated. Based on the results and with an eye to reduce materials consumption, energy consumption, and to increase the wastewater treatment efficiency and overall equipment efficiency, a Lean Production implementation plan was designed for the wastewater treatment process, which starts with such activities as Seiri and Seiton, followed by equipment TPM, one point lessons, employee suggestions, QC activities, improvement records, bad points labeling, to improve the current management and processes. The paper concludes with defining the organizational structure, employee training, plan implementation, and summaziring the results of conducting Lean Production activities, such as reducing wastewater COD, energy and materials consumptions, achieving no EHS accidents, and motivating employees.
