Jiang Kui was famous of his Ci in Southern Song Dynasty. Although the achievement of his poems can not compare with his Ci, his poetry presents a unique artistic style at that time. This paper is focus on Jiang Kui’s poetic art, which intended to improve the study of Jiang Kui on the basis of previous results. The introduction includes three parts, namely, research status of Jiang Kui and his works, the meaning and value of this research, and the content of this paper. The text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes the performance areas of Jiang Kui’s poetry. It falls into several categories, namely real-life subject matter, the lament of his homelessness and unrecognized talent, poems of replying writing activities, history commenting and female subjects.Compared to the real-life subject matter, poems that describe personal emotion are more prominent.Through these different contents, Jiang Kui reflects his unique artistic pursuit. The second chapter discusses the artistic characteristics of Jiang Kui’s poetry from these aspects, namely imageries, performance characteristics, genres of poetry and the style of his poetic language. The imageries includes humanistic imageries and natural imageries, the poet’s choice of imageries reflects his aesthetic charm and the way he contemplates the outside world. And then I would try to discuss the unique performance characteristics of Jiang’s poetry. This question could be discussed from these four angles:the relationship between emotion and scene, the presentation of intuitive experience, implicit expression and the "verve" of Jiang’s quatrains. Jiang’s pursuit on genre firstly surfaces in his emphasis of genre in theory, and by analyzing his poems of different genres we could find that he pays more attention to quatrains than other genres, which may have something to do with his creation of Ci. In addition, Jiang’s poetic language reflects a special style which combines exquisite and natural. The third chapter discusses the relationship between Jiang Kui’s poetry creation and the atmosphere that poets in Southern Song Dynasty learned poetry of the late Tang Dynasty. From the objective performance of Jiang’s poetry we could see that the formation of its unique artistic style has something to do with the poetry of the late Tang Dynasty. Jiang Kui was firstly influenced by poets of resurgence especially Yang Wanli. Because of similar life experience and promoting of Yang Wanli, Jiang Kui paid attention to Lu Guimeng, who was one of the poets in the late Tang Dynasty. But in this process, he was not limited in Lu and showed individuality in poetic circles at that time. Finally I would like to compare Jiang Kui with Yongjia Siling and JiangHu poets which intends to show Jiang’s uniqueness in the practice of learning poetry of the late Tang Dynasty. This article try to explore Jiang Kui’s poetic art from microscopic points like performance areas, imageries, performance characteristics, genres of poetry and the style of his poetic language. It treats the atmosphere that poets learned poetry of the late Tang Dynasty as an entry point to improve the study of Jiang Kui’s poetry origin and analyze the unique artistic style of Jiang Kui’s poetry in the late Southern Song Dynasty.
