A Study On Avadana Literature In Jinglvyixiang

Buddhism on Chinese literature had a very significant impact. Buddhism was introduced to China since the Han Dynasty, and then gradually combined with Chinese culture, eventually becoming one of the main Chinese culture. The introduction of Buddhist scriptures and its Chinese translation, is the important factor in the development of Chinese literature since the Wei and Jin dynasty. It brought Chinese literature new style, new theme, and new artistic conception. As we know the Chinese indigenous religion Taoism and Confucianism today have much less influence than Buddhism. I believe that the spread of Buddhism in China for so long can be attributed to the unique Buddhist Awa Tuona avadana. The avadana is one of the ways in which the Buddha is commonly used.This paper attempts to study Buddhist avadana literature starting from the existing669small story in "Jing Lv Yi Xiang". The main part contains six chapters. The introduction gives information of the general situation of "Jing Lv Yi Xiang", and the present research situation and the object and method. The first chapter gives analysis of the meaning of "Jing Lv Yi Xiang" and its chief editor Bao Chang, concludes its structure characteristics. The second chapter comes from two aspects of teachings and literature to research what is karma. The third chapter gives information of Buddha Jataka and its form and characteristics. The fourth chapter discusses "Jing Lv Yi Xiang" and Buddhist avadana literature, Illustrate the narrative characteristics of "Jing Lv Yi Xiang". Chapter V discusses the meaning and implication of avadana literature in "Jing Lv Yi Xiang". The conclusion summarizes the characteristics, achievement and the value of avadana literature in "Jing Lv Yi Xiang", and its relationship with Chinese literature and Indian literature.
