Interpretation For International Communication In View Of Skopos Theory

Interpretation/translation has direct influence of the results and extent of international communication. Interpretation for international communication should be able to protect the interests of our country, convey correct information in fields of society, politics and economy and foster a good international image. It also should be guaranteed that the audience can get and comprehend information correctly so as to reach the goal of international communication. Therefore, it is significant to improve the quality of interpretation for international communication and at the same time the ability and level of interpreters should be improved to meet the needs.With press conferences of the Ministry of National Defense in August and November of2013as examples, the author conducted consecutive interpretation and discussed interpretation strategies on the basis of Skopos Theory. The author wishes to gain experiences from this interpretation practice and strengthen training in future study, thus to improve the quality of interpretation and imply interpretation theories to practice.
