This makes the books about crimes impact on how people perceive crimes.This project is to translate a book named Profilers—Leading Investigators Take You inside the Criminal Minds as source text, which is written by Don De Nevi and John H. Campbell. Through translating the first chapter of this book, translator hopes to provide the first Chinese version and build a platform for those who wants to know profilers. And based on the Newmark’s translation theory, the report employs the semantic translation and communicative translation to deal with different text types, which are categorized by analyzing structure of source text. At the premise of being loyal to the source text, the translator tries to transmit the spirit of the source text in translation by using proper translation methods, to make the translation understood by readers, to achieve the desired effect which is to show people the necessity of having law awareness, and to awake people’s conscience as well as to strengthen their faith to maintain the social stability.The report mainly consists of the introduction of project, introduction of the book and its author, preparation work for this report, translation process, translation methods and conclusion.
