With the development of international maritime industry and enhancement of cooperation, the translation of maritime conventions has become more and more important. Translation of maritime convention, as a branch of specific purposes, requires appropriateness and accuracy in word choice and faithfulness to the original text. Therefore, particular translation strategies should be adopted to make the translation precise to help the readers fully understand the content.The report summarizes the translation skills and the resolution to specific translation problems on the basis of the translation practice of Principles for Preventing Collision between Vessels on Inland Waters of People’s Republic of China. The report consists of four parts:chapter one is an introduction to the translation task which briefly introduces the original text and the translation standard; chapter two is translation process which describes the translation plan and translation proofreading; chapter threet is translation problems and solutions which discusses problems in terms of vocabulary and skills applied in the tranalation process; chapter four is the conclusion of the translation task which summarizes the translation strategies and skills, aiming to provide reference to the translation of maritime conventions.
