This paper is based on the evolution of "petty bourgeoisie" concept and the conversion of style color in the new social context. It changes the history pattern that judges Mao Dun’s "petty bourgeoisie writing" phenomenon in political perspective and from ideological field, trying to give a new interpretation and discussion to Mao Dun’s petty bourgeoisie writing in the perspective of life and tasteThis thesis is divided into four chapters, including the conclusion, there’re five parts in total.Combining the previous theory and research on the new historical context, The first chapter gives an Analysis and definition to the history, definition, representation of "petty bourgeoisie" concept, establishes the model to analyze and interpret "petty bourgeoisie writing" from two points of the "petty people" and "petty bourgeoisie".The second chapter is to present the phenomenon of petty bourgeoisie writing in the Mao Dun’s novels through refined analysis of the text. There’re three aspects. The first aspect is the description of city witch as dwelling place of "petty bourgeoisie".This part is focuses on the analysis of the relationship between the urban and the petty bourgeoisie. Secondly, the paper concentrated analyzes the shape of the petty bourgeoisie image and the building of petty bourgeoisie tastes, witch spread from the surface life taste and the deep spiritual core. The third aspect, it analyzes the unique significance of such Writing techniques as symbolism, psychological description, language style to Mao Dun’s petty bourgeoisie writing.The third chapter discusses the motivation of Mao Dun’s petty bourgeoisie writing. Looking from the external environment, the historical opportunity of social transformation creates the special mood of depressed and decadent, witch becomes the psychological foundation of Mao Dun’s petty bourgeoisie writing; special atmosphere in concession becomes a hotbed for the emergence of the writer’s decadent style. Then secondly, in the point of the writer’s social life and cultural structure, economically, looking from the author’s birth, family economic status, social identity perspective, and the author belongs to the middle class. Then In the aspect of culture, symbolism and aestheticism in the ideological system of new-romanticism produce effect to Mao Dun’s writing, witch are characterized by the use of symbolism and the body writing of petty bourgeois women. Lastly, in the aspect of life experience, familiar and emotional closeness to the petty bourgeoisie also becomes the direct reason of Mao Dun’s petty bourgeoisie writing.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the relationship between the Mao Dun’s petty bourgeoisie writing and the mainstream writing of left-wing. It’s such kind of relationship that is deviated and fit in the same time. It’s just the same as the relationship between political rationality and aesthetic consciousness in a certain sense. The two constitute a paradox, but moreover they format the unique phenomenon of symbiosis and the unbalance in Mao Dun’s writing practice, it is the uniqueness and writing tension of Mao Dun’s petty bourgeoisie writing.The part of conclusion summarizes the full text.
