In Chinese contemporary culture,"petty bourgeois" is one of the most importantwords. Today, the "petty bourgeois culture" is very popular, it represents a kind ofelegant atmosphere of life. However, in different historical stages,"petty bourgeoisculture" because of the different historical background, it invokes the publicimagination is different.From the beginning of the twentieth Century, Chinese with the development andreform of modern,"petty bourgeoisie" this new cultural groups gradually appeared inthe city under the background of society. Before the reform and opening up,"pettybourgeoisie" is a strong political color words, they are considered a group ofintellectuals from the society and the public, therefore in the process of transformationand gradually lost self. After years of baptism,"petty bourgeoisie" and not because ofthe revolutionary hurricane disappear from the scene, is from an embarrassing periodto be in smooth water of a harbor, it has thoroughly to remould oneself, into a kind oflife attitude and life style in the long river of history. In twentieth Century at the endof90,"petty bourgeois" is the representative word set, elegant style, taste in aromantic life. They show individual character, the pursuit of spiritual freedom, withelegant taste, enjoy the romantic. In this kind of sentiment and taste, they contain tothe life and the life feeling and understanding, a kind of romantic feelings alwaysdiffuse in the avant-garde and fashion of the air, have already become a bright sceneryline.As a kind of aesthetic culture,"petty bourgeois" is based on people in theconsumer society life style and taste to the division. Therefore, the "petty bourgeoisie"aesthetic pursuit of daily life has inevitable reasons: the first is for aesthetic pursuit oftheir resistance to the daily life of mechanization. Secondly,"aesthetic pettybourgeois" the pursuit of life, also has the close relationship with their identity. So,whether the cultural aesthetic becomes the basic point to distinguish the "pettybourgeois" culture and "mass culture". The aesthetic connotation of bourgeois culture,reflect the aesthetic remodeling of individual subjectivity, physical and spiritual two-way immersion and ascension, for power of discourse in the context of consumption,presents a its own principles, approaching discourse strategy. The petty bourgeoisculture is a wonderful afford much food for thought in the context of contemporaryconsumption. Therefore, to build a "mass culture", the public’s aesthetic needs to correctpositioning, must also pass a return to summon rationality and humanistic spirit. So,we need a new kind of culture on its wash back, a truly can construct and implementthe mass material and spiritual culture--the petty bourgeois culture, so as to enhancethe mass culture.In fact, common development, social and cultural development cannot dowithout the mass culture and petty bourgeois culture so, we first need to understandthe two kinds of culture in social and cultural status, the two should be reasonable andcomplementarity.
