Without being trusted, no one can do anything (one can do nothing). However, the trust violation happens everywhere in our daily life. These events have many relationships broken up.Even more, they can lead to serious incidents. In this study, two behavioral experiments designed to investigate the influence of trust violation on self-other overlap in long-term relationship.Experiment1is a one-factor between subjects experimental design. The independent variable is trust violation. The dependent variable is self-other overlap. This experiment totally recruited40Hunan Normal University undergraduates and tested them separately. It was found that compared to the control group, the trust violation has a significant impact on self-other overlap.Experiment2is a two-factor mixed design. The within-subject variable is the contact degree. The between subject variable is the type of trust violation. This experiment totally recruited80Hunan normal University undergraduates and tested them separately. The result shows:(1)Compared to the honest trust violation, kind heart trust violation has a greater impact on self-other overlap.(2)Trust violation happened in high contact degree has a greater impact on self-other overlap than in low contact degree. The result showed:The first, trust violation has a negative impact on self-other overlap.Second, trust violation will have a more serious impact on self-other overlap with the growing contact degree. At last, kind heart trust violation have a much more destructive power than honest trust violation.
