There was an apparently appearance and an increase of personal art shows, community arts exhibitions and national arts exhibitions.In early years of the Republic of China,with the rising of artistic Ideological trend and the development of artistic revolution,and the prosperous of modern art movement and growing emphasis on art education,especially to bring in western art to China,various kinds of exhibitions flourished at the time,including solo exhibition,community exhibition and national exhibition.Among the artistic magazines issues during20s tO30s in Twentieth Century,The Young Companion ranked among the most durable magazine,which issued174editions,causing the "The Young Companion phenomenon". The Young Companion circulated over forty thousand copies,remained of great influential at that period in China. The Young Companion outstands its counterpart by more comprehensive and objective reports,and it also has a good access to the mass The Young Companion has broadened the horizon of artistic filed,promoting artists to the exhibitions.The process that arts exhibition gradually growing into mature and abundant is also the emblem of Chinese Art taring from provinciality to openness, which mirrors the modernization of Chinese fine arts.This article takes four aspects to analyze the companionship between The Young Companion Magazine and the arts exhibition during the During the period of the Republic of China,which highlights it’s reports on the exhibitions and also bring back the development course of these exhibitions.The first chapter introduces the general circumstance in the historical context as well as the causes of modern art exhibition and its development.The second chapter expounds the diversity nature of The Young Companion,nsmely official exhibitions,artistic community exhibitions,academic exhibitions,solo exhibitions,oversea exhibitions,ect.The third chapter introduces different way of reporting the exhibitions ranging from selective reporting to exhibition invitation.In the fourth chapter, the author introduces several characteristic exhibition and their corresponding report on The Young Companion,in which photography exhibition count as an importance part,as well as thematic exhibitions featuring "western painting and women",besides,it kept an keen eye on the art development in Southern China.
