Literature And Social Perspective Of “The Young Companion”

In February 15, 1926, "The young companion" birth in Shanghai, as a large comprehensive pictorial, it appeared a popular. However, this phenomenon is not purely by chance, but a choice of history. I based on "The young companion" total period of 172 and a large number of historical materials, chose the "modern" and "realistic" as the angle of thinking, moving through the field, trying to restore a complete and real Shanghai during the Republic of China, rather than a single beautiful illusion of Shanghai. This paper starts from the social and cultural background of "The young companion", to explore the causes and development of "The young companion" culture, at the same time, pick the "modern" and "realistic" as the starting point to restore the overall appearance of Shanghai urban culture. In addition, as the main body of this article, literature and social perspective is the author illustrated in the focus area. The literature, among them, article constantly excavate the resources of pictorial, from The Saturday, May Fourth new literature, Hai Pai to The left wing literature, shows the characteristics of each stage, trying to do some supplement for the research of the Chinese modern literature. In the social perspective, author focus on four elements of the pictorial —— image, female, film and anti Japanese War, by combining the text expounds the particularity and typicality of each element, which showed the social significance and connotation of "The young companion" pictorial.
