Language is mankind’s most important communication tool, which determines thefundamental goal of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is to enhance thelearners’ communication ability. However, nowadays the most activities of teachingChinese as a foreign language lay particular stress on the knowledge of the Chinese,while ignoring how to enhance the learners’ ability to use language. This situationleads to that the learners are often able to follow the grammatical rules, but can’tunderstand the Chinese cultural background and social conventions of communication,which causes a lot of inappropriate language uses.This dissertation will use the knowledge of Chinese language, via analyzing theinappropriate languages uses frequently used by Thai learners, try to discuss thereasons of the inappropriate social language uses from a cultural point of view, inorder to offer some useful advices for the Chinese language teaching in Thailand.This dissertation consists of four chapters: The first chapter is the introductionpart, mainly discuss the value and motivation of this study, the overview of thecurrent study of this research field and the collection of the research materials; thesecond chapter mainly studies the inappropriate uses of Thai learners, and analyzesthe causes from a cultural perspective; the third chapter indicates the meaning ofthis study for the Chinese teaching in Thailand, and gives advices on teachers,learners, and teaching methods. The fourth chapter is the epilogue, reviewing andsummarizing the whole texts.
