Wu’an Laozi, a folk opera which is a unique local operas inSouth Area, is produced in Wu’an County,Handan, Hebei Province.It sings smoothly, lively and has long been loved by the people.Wu’an Laozi comes from street theater, so its early days was knownas " Liao De play."Wu’an Laozi evolved from the folk tunes, processed throughgeneration of artists and reform. In the end, it gradually formed aunique style of music and performing arts where opera is the resultof many factors working together. First, social unrest and frequentnatural disasters make many refugees.Some of them becomebeggars and some of them have to go to theatrical troupe formaking a living. It paves the way for the production of Wu’an Laozi.Secondly, advantageous location and convenint transportationmake it easier for the group to communicate with others. Inaddition, the effects of long-term fire performances prosperous civilsociety, people rich cultural heritage, long-standing folk musicorganizations, Wu’an pingdiao, Hebei Clapper and other operas andWu’an Nuo opera is also an important condition to the formation ofthe Laozi.In early times, Wu’an Laozi mainly populared in Wu’an Countyand surrounding counties. About late Qing and early Republic of China, Wu’an Laozi soon spread to AnYang, XinXiang of HeNan,Shanxi and XingTai.
