Abstract Internet has brought huge impact to human being with the development and popularity of Internet. At present, teenagers and college students take Internet as their main way of recreation and are even dependent on it. They search for information, watch movies, play games, chat, and shop on it. However, Internet has both advantages and disadvantages. Frequent use of Internet will lead teenagers off real life, gradually make them lack of communication with the surrounding people, what’s worse, be addicted in movies and games, which make them lose interest in real life. It will eventually bring some bad effects on the growth of individual development, as well as bring negative effect to the development of the society as a whole.This paper, taking higher vocational college students as the research object, emotion management, and social adaptation ability as the important influence factors of Internet addiction, explores the relationship between students’ emotion management skills as well as social adaptation ability and Internet addiction tendency, so as to guide teenagers to arrange time online reasonably and to help teachers and parents to effectively prevent and break teenagers’addictions in Internet. Research conclusions are as follows:(1) Internet addictions phenomenon in higher vocational college students. Chinese Internet Addiction Scale (CIAS) shows that total score on Gender, grade, specialty, origin of student and whether the one-child as well as scores in each dimension are different. In terms of emotion management, there were no significant differences in gender, and origin of student. Freshmen got higher score than sophomore in emotion understanding. In terms of social adaptation ability, there were no significant differences.(2) On the five factors of college student Emotion Management Questionnaire, HVE students in different degree of Internet addiction tendency got different scores. High-tendency group scores were significantly lower than low-tendency group.(3) In terms of social adaptation ability, HVE students in different degree of Internet addiction tendency got different scores, the score of low-tendency group were significantly higher than high-tendency group.(4) Emotion management skills correlated significantly with network dependence. Individual’s ability to coexist with the environment in harmony correlated significantly with Internet addiction tendency. They have direct influence on Internet addiction tendency.(5) Emotion management skills and social adaptation ability can affect Internet addiction tendency. Emotional expression and social adaptation ability went into the regression model and regression coefficient was significant. Finally, I reflected on the shortcomings of this research, conducted in-depth discussions on significance of this research from theory and practice and put forward the idea for future related research.
