This interpretation project report is composed of several difficulties analysis and the related adaptation tactics in subtitle interpreting process of the lecture of "Risk Investment Prospects and Others" addressed by Marc Andreessen on Entrepreneurial Thought Leader Seminar in Stanford University in May12,2010. The video has been watched by thirty entrepreneurs and management staff inland. The content of this lecture affiliates to the economic discourse. The difficulties of this interpretation project are demonstrated as following three aspects. They are the unfamiliarity of venture capital discourse and its relative fields the addressor invested in, the coordination among the readability of subtitles, the operability of interpreters and the technical regulations of subtitles, the transformation from the source language to the target language.According to the adaptation theory in pragmatic views, the analysis of this economic discourse is based on the contextual correlates of this program. Three measures are adopted thereof:familiarity with the characteristics and special knowledge of risk investment and the background information of the addressor in order to establish the professional database, realization of the readability and technical regulations of subtitle interpretation (64English characters and21Chinese characters for each line, space-room included) in order to stay effective, adaptation of the differences between English and Chinese in order to keep fluency. The tactics based on the above are the adaptation of the wording of risk investment by direct use of translation of professional terms, keeping source language with explanation thereafter and correct interpretation of daily words within context; the adaptation of the subtitle regulations and techniques by adding, deleting and chunking; the adaptation of Chinese language habits by transformation of address forms, voice and coordination of the positions of attributes and time expressions.
