This report is based on the author’s experience of attending a simulated C-E consecutive interpretation task, the material of which comes from a Chinese interview named “Domestic Demand-Oriented Investment Opportunities”. The goal is to look for corresponding countermeasures for problems occurred during the interpretation practice to improve the quality of interpretation. There are three parts in this report—the task introduction, the overview of the interpretation process and the case analyses. The task introduction describes the background, requirements and the material. The overview of the interpretation process introduces the preparation, interpretation process and the review afterwards, including the strategies chosen for interpretation and solutions to possible problems. The third part analyzes three problems with examples, namely, inaccuracy when interpreting words, restriction by the form of the sentence and unsatisfactory expression in the target language, attempting to offer effective countermeasures such as adjusting the sentence order, applying the explanation if a certain word could not be interpreted accurately and accumulating expressions in daily practices. It is expected that this report could provide references for interpretation based on similar materials.
