| The rapid development of China's foreign trade promotes ever-increasing exchanges between China and other countries in politics, economy and culture, contributing to an increasing number of investment opportunities for overseas investors. The most direct and reliable way for these investors to learn about the investment advantages and opportunities of a region is to read investment-inviting documents. Therefore, the translation of this type of text is of greater significance for attracting investment and promoting local economic development.This report studies the C-E translation of investment-inviting texts. The author selects two major chapters from Tourism Investment Opportunities in Ningxiang 2015 as the translation material. Guided by the translation theory, Translation as Adaptation and Selection, the author has completed the translation and revision of the original text. The report summarizes the linguistic and functional characteristics of the text and proposes three translation strategies after analyzing various translation cases. The difficult points lie in the translation of words or expressions with Chinese characteristics and that of long complex sentences. According to the approach Translation as Adaptation and Selection, the translation of this type of text shall base on the principle of “multi-dimensional adaptation and adaptive selection” and involves adaptive transformation from the linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions.The translation of Tourism Investment Opportunities in Ningxiang 2015 contributes to advertising Ningxiang's investment advantages and introducing its tourism projects, which, to some degree, shows economic and practical value. And this report provides a feasible principle and strategies for the translation of this type of documents. |
