In recent years, along with China’s continuing economic and social development,and as the comprehensive national power (CNP) significantly increased itsinternational status, more and more foreigners come to China to study, work, and evenlearn Chinese language and understand Chinese culture. Changchun is China’snortheast second largest city, known as "The University town" with very goodreputation; it’s attracting more foreigners to study in their preferable university.Foreign students as part of a group of college students, on the one hand, they andChinese college students have some common ground, management would certainly beconsidered one; on the other hand, because of the influencing factors of educationalbackground, cultural traditions, customs and so on. Also in terms of the worldview andvalues, ways of thinking, communication methods, relationships, habits, learningmethods etc., we can notice that there are too many differences between them and theChinese students, which are noticed even among foreign students themselves.According to a current research, cultural differences might adversely affect studentsmentally and physically; It might also affect their studies. Therefore, for deeplyunderstanding the consequences of these differences and making opportune strategies,it’s largely depending on foreign student’s educational management, and the success orfailure of this management might have direct impact on the development of Changchunforeign students education. Currently most of Chinese foreign educational universities’management focus more on providing hardware facilities, comfortable livingenvironment, taking care of students’ lifestyle and religious practices, but putting lessattention on foreign students cross-cultural adaptation problems with Chinese cultureand society, which still needs more improvement.This paper is supported by cultural studies, intercultural communication, linguistics, psychology and other disciplines theory. And according to the questionnairesurvey which focused on the aspects of the personal, social, geographical differences,we can understand foreign student’s cross-cultural adaptation in the new cultural,linguistic environment, social interaction, daily life and academic activities, such asadaptability and adjustment problems. As well as how those foreign students apply avariety of ways to deal with cultural differences. And we can also analyze internal andexternal factors that affect acculturation and learning. Moreover this research canprovide for managers a theoretical basis for the implementation of effectivemanagement, as well as first-hand information for the development of managementmeasures; It also put forward some effective advice and recommendations to students,reduce cultural differences that might cause them some stress, and enhance theirconfidence and cross-cultural communication skills.Finally, the survey results propose specific measures to promote foreign students’cultural adaptation, by training the students to strengthen their cross-culturalcommunicative competence, enhance social support for students and further strengthencommunication with students.
