This article mainly from the synchronic and diachronic point of view, comprehensively examined the use of the "and". Synchronic level, from the semantics, syntax, pragmatics, to explain the word "and" the diachronic level, first examines the grammaticalization process of "dare" word, then, to explore the evolution of the relationship between "and" five kinds of usage. The introduction part introduces the problems put forward, research ideas and research methods, research review, intends to solve the problem, the source of corpus. The first chapter examines the respectively "and" basic semantics, the semantic structure mode and semantic functions. Comprehensive introduction "and" the five basic semantic and the five corresponding semantic structure mode and the "and" signaling function, modal functions. The second chapter examines the respectively "and" part of speech, syntactic connection with the characteristics of distribution and equipping."
