This essay introduces the influences and practical functions which ReceptionalAesthetic theory and Functional Equivalence theory exert on translation works ofpopular music documents.The author chooses Receptional Aesthetic theory andFunctional Equivalence theory which frequently appears in translation works as theguiding principle, meanwhile, adopts elaboration、comparison、questionnaire surveysand other research methods to arrange、analysis and illustrate some translationexercises.First of all, the author explains Receptional Aesthetic theory and FunctionalEquivalence theory in simple terms, collects feedbacks from readers throughquestionnaire surveys and summarizes the affects these two theories could bring intranslation works from English into Chinese. Secondly, the author adopts ReceptionalAesthetic theory on lyric translation in order to discuss translation concepts andapproaches and to break the traditional modes of lyric translation by making differentversions of lyrics. Finally, the author adopts Functional Equivalence theory andCultural Equivalence theory to upgrade some important translation texts, illustrateshow these two theories works by comparing the original version with the upgradedversion.
